The Warana Valley's transformative socio-economic development is credited to the late visionary Shri V.A., also known as Tatyasaheb Kore. The establishment of Warana Sahakari Sakhar Karkhna Ltd. in 1955 marked a pivotal moment in this development. The Warana Coop Sugar factory, founded by Shri Kore, served as a significant income source for 10-15% of farmers with irrigation facilities.
To address the economic challenges faced by the remaining 85-90% of landless laborers and smallholding farmers, the Warana Dairy was established in 1968. This cooperative dairy aimed to provide additional income to farmers from surrounding villages, propelling the revolutionary movement to an annual turnover exceeding Rs 900 crores. The dairy has earned prestigious certifications, including ISO 9001-2008 and H.A.C.C.P. food safety certificates.
Distinguished by its hygienic milk processing plant with a capacity of 10 lac liters per day, Warana Dairy produces a variety of products. Notably, Warana Shrikhand, an indigenous Indian sweet, has set records for being the highest-selling product in India and is particularly popular in Maharashtra. The product range includes Warana Milk Powder, UHT Milk in Tetra Pack, Pasteurized Milk, Ghee, Butter, Cheese, Paneer, Chass, Dahi, lassi, ice cream, Packaged Drinking Water, among others.
Exporting 65 metric tons of milk powder daily to Gulf countries like Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Sarah, as well as African countries, Bangladesh, and China, Warana Dairy stands as a testament to its commitment to quality.
