The Southern Regional Station of ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute (SRS of ICAR-NDRI), Bengaluru, a trailblazing institution in the field of dairying, traces its origins back to the Imperial Institute of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, established on 1 July 1923. Following India's independence, the institute underwent a name change and was recognized as the Indian Dairy Research Institute in 1955. Subsequently, in 1955, it assumed the name National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) with its headquarters located in Karnal, Haryana. The facility in Bengaluru evolved into the Southern Regional Station, signifying its regional focus within the broader mission of NDRI.
